From hot air balloons to craft beer, summer festivals in Bristol offer just about everything imaginable. Here are a few festivals that promise to be entertaining and fun for both locals and visitors.
This celebration of walking lasts the entire month of May. With many different walks offered, you are sure to find something that piques your interest. Some examples are historical tours, nature walks, and fitness walks. Most of the events are free and open to all ages.
Bristol Refugee Festival
Taking place in Central Bristol from June 1-30, this festival celebrates the contributions refugees make to life in Bristol. The programme includes the arts, culture, and education and aims to increase awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by refugees.
Bristol Harbour Festival
This annual celebration of the harbour and the city’s nautical history will take place on July 20-22 at the Bristol Harbourside. You will be sure to enjoy the many activities such as daredevil stunts, boat rides, and live music offered at this free family festival.
Europe’s largest street art and graffiti festival is returning to Bedminster and Southville on July 28-30. Be sure to bring the kids because the festival includes many children’s workshops and an art fair where visitors can purchase pieces from festival artists. This family friendly festival is free to attend.
Bristol International Balloon Fiesta
This festival on August 9-12 at Ashton Court Estate features over 130 hot air balloons from around the world. Lasting four days, the festival includes morning balloon lifts, afternoon balloon lifts, balloon rides, music, trade stands, and entertainment. Be sure to catch the Nightglows and Firework Finales on Thursday and Saturday nights. This event is free and fun for the whole family.
Bristol Craft Beer Festival
Finish off the summer with a celebration of craft brewing on September 14-16 at the Amphitheatre and Harbour Square. Over thirty-five breweries will be represented along with great live music and street food. A festival glass, programme, and free beer are included with your ticket. Ticket prices are approximately £40 per day. You must be 18 in order to attend this event.
