Great Bristol Half Marathon
Every autumn, Bristol sees 10,000 participants running throughout the city. This 13.1 mile race is coming up on its 30th anniversary. The route covers some major landmarks such as the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Spike Island and then ends on the Harbourside. Visitors are allowed to participate but registration needs to be taken care of in advanced. The race is just as fun to watch as runners can be cheered on from the sidelines.
Doing Things Differently Festival
The Doing Things Differently Festival is a new event for the city of Bristol. This September will be the grand premier of the festival. There are several different and unique exhibitions planned that are sure to capture attention and generate interest. One particular exhibition will show photographs that promote disabled people who dance. The Doing Things Differently Festival will also have a workshop about sound for the hearing impaired and deaf.
Bavarian Beerhouse Oktoberfest
You don’t have to travel all the way to Germany to experience the excitement of Oktoberfest. The renowned Bavarian Beerhouse hosts an annual Oktoberfest starting in late September. Visitors to Bristol will love the foreign atmosphere and light-hearted fun that this festival always creates. The Bavarian Beerhouse has an excellent selection of beers. Bristol Zombie Walk
Halloween isn’t the scariest day of the year in Bristol. Just a few days before this famous holiday, hundreds of excited volunteers dress up in their scariest zombie outfit and roam the streets of Bristol. The Bristol Zombie Walk takes place on the 29th of October and has become a favorite for both locals and visitors alike. Tourists are free to join in on the fun as a fellow zombie or an apocalypse survivor.
